  3. Reachers will participate in an ongoing mentoring programme for a period of 18-months after the completion of the expedition. The mentoring programme will include a time commitment of an hour-long session once every two months, thus nine hour-long sessions over a period of 18-months.

  1. Reachers are required to contribute £300 to the cost of the expedition.

  2. Reachers will be provided with guidance and support to fundraise but the burden of responsibility for raising the funds is with each Reacher.

Medical Commitment

  1. Parents / carers are responsible for declaring any pre-existing medical conditions to Operation Reach on the Medical Declaration Form. It is the responsibility of the parent / carer to ensure that their child has adequate supplies of any medicine that their child normally takes, and that such medication is packed in their child’s hand luggage. It is the responsibility of the parent / carer to check that any medication will be legal in the destination country.

  2. Parents / carers are responsible for ensuring that their child has received all appropriate vaccinations (and anti-malarials, if deemed necessary by the GP) to travel to the destination country prior to the expedition. It is the responsibility of the parent / carer to visit their child’s GP at least four months prior to departure to find out what vaccinations and or anti-malarials are needed.

  3. Parents / carers are responsible for ensuring their child is equipped with a basic First Aid kit.

  4. Parents / carers are required to give consent for first aid or urgent medical treatment to be given to their child during the expedition.

  2. Each Reacher needs to ensure that their passport will be valid for a period of at least six months after the expedition, i.e. valid until at least February 2023.

  3. Each Reacher will need to have the valid passport in place by no later than April 2022.

Parents / carers understand that there will be known and unanticipated risks that could result in physical or emotional injury, death or damage to their child, their child’s property, or to third parties.

  2. Operation Reach has overall responsibility for the welfare of all participants on an expedition. However, Reachers are required to take all reasonable care to ensure their own safety.

Breach of the Code of Conduct

  1. All Reachers are required to sign the Code of Conduct.

  2. If a Reacher behaves in a way which contradicts the Code of Conduct, they may be removed from the Operation Reach programme.
